WHAT ARE ACNE SCARS?
Acne scars are textural changes that occur in the skin as a result of cells being damaged, which are often seen in acne-prone skin. There are many different types of acne scars - some are permanent and some fade over time. If you are someone who struggles

TYPES OF ACNE SCARS
- Macules These are flat, red spots where a pimple was once located, and can remain visible for months after a pimple has healed. Unlike other acne scarring they are not permanent.
- Ice-pick - These acne scars are tiny, narrow, deep, vertical and cylindrical in shape.
- Boxcar - Wider than ice pick scars, boxcar scars give the skin an uneven, pitted appearance. These scars are round or oval depressions with steep vertical sides.
- Soft rolling - Rolling scars differ from boxcar scars in that they aren't sharply defined. The skin itself looks uneven in texture. These scars cause rolling or wave-like depressions across otherwise normal-looking skin.
80% of people are affected by acne at some point, and 15% of people with untreated acne are left with acne scars.
HOW BEST TO AVOID ACNE SCARRING
- No picking // No popping. When your skin is in ‘repair mode’ it produces new skin cells to heal the affected area. If you pick your skin during this process it can cause permanent scarring.
